After having lived the past seven years travelling outside of France, it has been a real pleasure to discover a place like Station Mir in Pezenas, a town falsely accused of being already asleep for the settling winter.

There are hundreds of small dark green glass-marbles stuck in the walls, reminding you of the outer space, like stars around you.

This is Station Mir.

It was born from the French concept of "restaurant à tiroirs" (drawers-like restaurant), which means that it is not only a restaurant, but also a place where you can find all kinds of entertainment. Sculpture, painting and photographs exhibitions, various games (chess, backgammon, uno, domino&). Station Mir is bound to delight you. Whatever you are into, there are great chances this is also what Firas and Nelly, the owners, are into: of course.

You can taste the traditional Mediterranean food, but also Lebanese specialties. In Station Mir you can eat typical French food, like Magret de Canard, Choucroute or you can enjoy some tastes of the world, such as Falafel and traditional Lebanese dishes.

A meal for two would cost around 25 euro, wine and coffee included. "Simply spacy"!

You will discover there the work of locally and internationally renowned artists. You can also pop by in the afternoon to have a glass of wine and read books that are kindly put on the shelves for you. Enjoy the decoration! This could be the way the outer space looks like.

The Chef comes out of his space-kitchen to greet us, quite an unusual and well appreciated politeness.

Once a month, on Tuesday, you can take an active part to some current debates: Station Mir become The "Cafe Philo" and various themes, such as Wealth Gaps in our society, are being discussed. This could be the opportunity to rejuvenate your rusty French, meet people and get to know locals!

On Wednesday, you can listen to some discussions in the Cafe Citoyen . Don't miss the next topic on November 27th: Faut-il aider les pauvres? (Should poor people be helped?)

If you are more interested in the current ecological issues of our magic planet, the Bar des Sciences is for you. Water quality and the bio-diversity of equatorial rainforests were the developed themes in October.

Literature discussions are also being held in la Station Mir, there also with locally and internationally renowned writers and intellectuals.

But the "true" experience in Station Mir, is to come in the evening to enjoy a concert. After you've enjoyed a good meal! Concerts start at 10PM and it s not possible to order or even to get into the restaurant passed this time.

The concert room contains some 60 chairs, or you can stay at you table if you ve not finished eating the delicious Lebanese food. The restaurant room opens into the concert room, so you won't miss a single note. Musicians are assured to get a quality audience and you a quality sound experience, as cigarettes as glasses are not allowed in the concert room after the concert has started.

If you want to know what s on at Station Mir, don't hesitate to pop by and take one of the programs.

Kitchen opens at 8pm until 9.15pm. Be sure to arrive before 10pm anyway to enjoy the concert, because this is the time when the gates shut, punctually, and no one is allowed after.
